My peace I give to you

August 10, 2020

Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you.  Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

John 14:27

Facing uncertainty is never easy.  There is a source of hope, waiting to help us face the unknown.  We live in a finite world.  However, there is an infinite God who is calling each of us to Him.  He has all that we will ever need, no matter how great life is, nor our dire situations might appear.

If God is for us, who can be against us?

Romans 8:31b

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?  Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

Romans 8:35

Yet, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.

Romans 8:36

In our current state of new illness and world-wide fear, there is a foundation on which we can stand.  There is a rock on which we can trust.  God knew before this situation that there would be situations and times where fear would take over.  He encourages every one of us

Do Not Fear

more than 365 times in His written word, the Bible.   That is at least one reminder every day that we should not fear.  Why does He remind us so often?  Because He knew such adversities would invoke fear.  Situations that cause fear to rise up would be upon us.

Jesus, God’s own Son, tells us,

These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace.  In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.

John 16:33

No matter what you may be facing today, small or no paycheck, work is closed, not enough groceries, perhaps you or someone you know has contracted a sickness, please remember that we are all facing hardships of some sort.  Make the best of the situation, and do your best to be kind and be a good neighbor.  As you give of yourself to help others, you will draw help from others as well.

My prayers go out to all the healthcare professionals, firefighters, police officers, caregivers, civil servants and leaders working hard, on the front lines of this ominous situation.  They are sacrificing their energy and family time to take care of the rest of us.  May we all do our parts to get through this, together.

May God Bless each of you.

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

II Timoty 1:7
